Painting interior doors and skirting boards
I want to update all the interior doors in my house to a satin finish, but I’m worried about brush marks and the paint yellowing over time. Should I use water-based or solvent-based paint? Also, is there a specific brand that is known for being extra tough against kicks and vacuum cleaner scuffs?

For a modern finish that stays white, water-based "hybrid" paints are the way to go. You should look at the collection at https://www.paintlab.ie/collections/doors-trims for some really durable options. These are designed specifically for high-traffic areas like skirting and door frames. I find that using a high-quality synthetic brush with these paints makes them level out beautifully, so you don't see those annoying brush strokes. Once they fully cure, they are very resistant to chipping and easy to wipe clean.
