HOW DO I APPLY?
Our application opens on October 1st of each year. The application link will be posted on our website and instagram page (@bearhugcattlecompany). We encourage you to fill out the written and video application thoroughly and thoughtfully. Selected applicants will then be contacted to schedule interviews with our team. We have 4 slots per summer, so the application process is very competitive.
DO I NEED EXPERIENCE TO APPLY?
No experience is required to apply! The only qualification is that you must have served in a branch of the armed forces.
The number one thing that we look for in applicants is their hunger and passion to get a job in the ranching industry.
WHAT IS THE COST?
This program is absolutely free of cost to the veterans who attend.
This program is 100% supported by donations.
WHAT DOES THE PROGRAM ENTAIL?
The goal of our summer program is to give veterans the resources and skills to successfully land a job in the ranching industry. To do this, we spend the first few weeks learning to ride, rope, take care of livestock, and do a variety of other ranch tasks. After this, we travel as a group to some of the most iconic ranches in the west to work. We help the ranches with cattle care, irrigation, fencing, and land management.
If you attend, you can expect to work 6-7 days a week. Be prepared for long and physically demanding days.
